COVINGTON COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - Several law enforcement agencies spent Friday afternoon into Saturday in an active search for a 71-year-old drowning victim on Gantt Lake. Covington County Sheriff Dennis Meeks confirmed the man's body was recovered Saturday.
According to Meeks, the man, his wife and two of their grandkids were inner tubing on the Covington County lake Friday when they stopped in the middle of the water. Meeks said the man and one of the grandkids jumped in the water but the man never resurfaced.
Among those that assisted in the search was the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Marine Patrol division.
