MIDLAND CITY, AL (WSFA) - A suspect involved in a standoff with police was hospitalized after being shot by a Dothan police supervisor, according to the department.
The Dothan Police Department said they assisted Midland City Police around 3 a.m. Saturday in regards to a barricaded gunman at Midtown Apartments. The Dothan Police Tactical Team was called out to help. While the situation was being evaluated, police said the suspect confronted them wielding a gun.
With the gun pointed at police, the suspect was reportedly shot one time and taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery for his wounds. Police expect the suspect to survive.
The Midland City Police Department is charging the suspect with multiple crimes. Other agencies that assisted include the Henry and Houston County Sheriff's Offices.
