LEE CO., AL (WSFA) - Lee County police arrested two men in a drug bust in Opelika Monday morning.
While driving in the 3500 block of County Road 166, an officer smelled marijuana and traced the scent to a nearby home.
While obtaining a warrant, officers secured the area, preventing the occupants from leaving before the warrant arrived.
When they searched the home, police found four bags of marijuana, which together weighed about two pounds, three semi-automatic handguns and about $400 in cash. One of the firearms had been reported stolen from Jonesboro, Georgia.
Police arrested Janerold Philpot, 38 and the owner of the home, and Dashawn Thomas, 37, and charged them with possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence.
Thomas is being held on a $2,500 bond and Philpot was released after posting a $3,500 bond.
