FIRST ALERT: Heat, humidity and scattered storms continue

FIRST ALERT: Heat advisories continue Tuesday

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The more things change, the more they stay the same. Such is life in Alabama in the dog days of Summer, a season punctuated by heat, humidity and scattered afternoon thunderstorms.

We have had a generous supply of all three over the past couple of days, and we expect the beat to go on this week and weekend.

Afternoon highs each day will touch the low to mid 90s. Factor in the stifling Alabama humidity, and it will feel more like 100-105 degrees. While not unusual, that level of heat and humidity can cause heat exhaustion and dehydration, so use common sense. Lots of water, lots of breaks.

The scattering of afternoon showers and thunderstorms will continue, too. The greatest coverage each day (around 40%) will occur in the afternoon and evening, with a smaller chance in the mornings. Some of these storms could be strong or severe, with isolated pockets of strong wind. And, most of these storms will produce massive numbers of lightning strikes.

Expect more of the same through the weekend and into next week. No big changes...
