COOSA COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - An Alabama mother and son's shopping trip was derailed by Thursday's severe storms that moved through the state.

Wanda Moore said she and her 15-year-old son, Aiden, were originally going to shop in Alexander City but changed course to avoid any storms. The two were on Old Goodwater Highway, just outside Goodwater, when the shocking moment happened.

Aiden caught it on video. The two were driving down the highway, when a tree suddenly fell into the road right in front of them. Wanda Moore said a limb from the tree hit the hood and knocked out the car's fuel injectors.

Wanda said Aiden is an aspiring meteorologist, which is what prompted him to start recording video while they were driving down the road. Several smaller tree limbs can be seen in the road in the moments leading up to the crash.

Storms dominated the central Alabama area Thursday, causing damage in several areas and knocking out power.

Both Wanda and Aiden emerged from the crash uninjured but their vehicle could be totaled.
