MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A little boy got the chance to meet some of his heroes, and maybe even one day his coworkers, during Thursday's storm cleanup.
Montgomery Fire Rescue's Lt. Jason Cupps says Engine 9 had quite the surprise as they were removing a tree that had fallen on a home. Cupps says the firefighters had just arrived at the scene when they noticed a young boy walking up to them. One of the firefighters said hello but the little boy quickly ran off.
Minutes later, the little boy ran back to the group but this time was dressed head-to-toe in his own firefighter gear and ready to work!
"I thought it was great he ran home and changed into his gear," Cupps said.
His family told the crew he loves firefighters and fire trucks.
"Moments like that remind us of how some us still get to live our childhood dream," Cupps says. "We still love fire trucks and helping others too!"
Cupps says the crew posed in some pictures with the little boy and exchanged high fives. The department even asked him to come back in 10 to 12 years, saying they'd have his application ready.
