MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The final round of the Future Masters golf tournament is shaping up to be a good one especially for players in the Wiregrass.
The final pairing will feature two of the best from Dothan, Houston Academy's Hal Dove and Providence Christian's Thomas Ponder.
Dove took a commanding lead in the second round shooting a 4-under and sits at the top of the leader board at 9-under.
"I knew I had been playing well and making a lot of putts," Dove said. "If I could just hit the ball as good as I did yesterday, which I did, I felt like I could play pretty good."
Not to be outdone, Ponder raced up the leader board with a 5-under on Friday and now sits pretty at 7-under as he looks to be the first player to repeat at Future Masters champion since Stewart Cink in 1991.
"Just really staying patient out there," Ponder said. "It's real key. Just not getting to anxious. Birdie putts are missed. Really just capitalize when you can and you'll be playing pretty good out there."
The two will tee off in the final group on Saturday.
