AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - A unique mountain biking trail is under construction at Chewacla State Park.

The Central Alabama Mountain Peddlers (CAMP) have been working for almost three weeks to construct a dual slalom trail for the Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference's 2018 Mountain Bike Championship. Workers say that this is the first of its kind in the state.

"I'm out here working on a dual slalom course, and what a dual slalom is is a track that's mirrored that goes from a start gate all the way down to your finish line. For every one turn you have the same turn on both sides so you have two riders going down the hill at once. Right now we're looking close to a quarter mile. I'm not too sure the exact measurement, we are going to come out here and measure it and see but just shy of a quarter mile," said CAMP Volunteer, Michael Carnrike.

CAMP members say that they are looking to have a grand opening for the trail on July 7.
