Restaurants compete for Bama's Best Fried Chicken award
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Eight Alabama restaurants, seven of which are in the WSFA viewing area, have been voted into the Bama's Best Fried Chicken competition.
The competition, hosted by the "Simply Southern TV" show, is held on the show's Facebook page, allowing users to vote for their favorite fried chicken in Alabama.
Nominations came from 700 Facebook users and the top eight have been placed in the running for the title.
Each day from July 10 to 13 will feature a new match-up between two of the eight restaurants. The winner of each match-up will continue to the second round.
The first round match-ups are as follows:
July 10: Ruby's in Abbeville versus Chicken Shack in Luverne
July 11: Red's Little School House in Grady versus Charlotte's in Dothan
July 12: Zack's Family Restaurant in Dothan versus Martin's Restaurant in Montgomery
July 13: Champy's in Muscle Shoals versus Sam's Kitchen & Grill in Eufaula
Th winners of the July 10 and 12 will face off in the second round on July 17 and the winners of July 11 and 13 will compete on July 18.
The winners of the second round will go head to head in the final round, determining the winner of the title "Bama's Best Fried Chicken."

The winner will be awarded $300 and a plaque, along with a feature on "Simply Southern TV."
"Simply Southern TV" airs on WSFA at 6 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
