HOUSTON CO., AL (WSFA) - A Dothan man is now behind bars after the sheriff's office alleges he committed a July 4 homicide.

The Houston County Sheriff's Office responded to the 6400 block of Cottonwood Road in the Lovetown Community Wednesday in response to a "firearm assault." According to Sheriff Donald J. Valenza, deputies arrested Matthew Preston Forehand, 28, on the scene and charged him with capital murder.

Court documents say Andrews Shelly Forehand was the victim. Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd said the 27-year-old Andrews Forehand was Matthew Forehand's brother and was shot and killed over a "family dispute."

Matthew Forehand was placed in the Houston County Jail with no bond.

The sheriff's office said the incident is still under investigation.
