EUFAULA, AL (WSFA) - Three people were arrested and face multiple charges after attempting to flee into the woods from the Eufaula Police Department.

According to Eufaula Police Department Chief Steve Watkins, the arrests are connected to a possible armed robbery.

Watkins said police responded to a call about an armed robbery at the Fairlane Meadows Apartments and ended up spotting the suspects' getaway car while en rotue to that location.

A pursuit ensued onto East Boundry Street and ended on Chattahoochee Drive where the suspects left the vehicle and started fleeing on foot. Watkins said the suspects ran into the woods near the Brickyard Road area where a perimeter was soon set up.

Only two suspects tried to escape into the woods according to Watkins. Those two suspects were caught after a search of the wooded area was done. A third suspect was arrested near Chapman's Funeral Home. All three were charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree possession of marijuana.

Watkins said at the time of the arrests, weapons and illegal substances were confiscated. A fourth individual is also being sought in connection to the alleged crimes.
