MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) - A Friday night party turned violent, resulting in several rounds of gunshots being fired and two people being injured as a result, according to the Millbrook Police Department.
Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson said a physical altercation broke out at a party or gathering of some sort at a residence in the 3500 block of Boxwood Drive. Police responded to the area around 11:30 p.m. with regards to gunshots being fired.
Johnson said when officers arrived, multiple vehicles left the scene but heard several shots fired from the area of a business.
Police then responded to the 2100 block of Main Street and dispersed a crowd but it was there they learned of the party where the altercation broke out.
Johnson said officers learned that the altercation led to gunshots being fired as a result and during the investigation found a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire multiple times while trying to escape.
According to Johnson, officers were later contacted about 21-year-old Montgomery man that had been shot in the leg as a result of the incident and taken to Prattville Baptist Hospital. Police made contact with the man but Johnson said he refused to cooperate. He was later released from the hospital.
Johnson said due to the lack of cooperation from the 21-year-old, police don't have any criminal charges at this time. Johnson also said police are "not getting a lot of cooperation from anyone that was present or that may have been able to identify who the shooter or shooters were."
Another man, a 19-year-old Alabaster resident, was treated for a possible broken jaw, according to Johnson.
Johnson said the department has been actively engaged in the area of the incident recently and will continue to increase patrols and enforcement activity.
