MACON COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - Nearly two weeks have passed since workers burning trees in a remote area of Macon County discovered a woman's body.
Few details have been released about the discovery since then, but on Monday the sheriff's office confirmed the woman's name to WSFA 12 News.
Macon County Sheriff Andre Brunson said the body is that of Melissa Nell Metcalf, 51, of Prattville.
Metcalf's body was found near Tysonville, about six miles west of Shorter in an area where there were no houses or buildings.
Brunson's office is working with the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation on the case.
No cause of death has been released.
