Luverne's The Chicken Shack name 'Bama's Best Fried Chicken

LUVERNE, AL (WSFA) - It's official, The Chicken Shack in Luverne has been named "Bama's Best Fried Chicken!"

The Chicken Shack took first place with 55 percent of the vote over Red's Little School House's 45 percent. In the final round, almost 10,000 votes were cast.

The competition, hosted by the "Simply Southern TV" show, was held on the show's Facebook page, allowing users to vote for their favorite fried chicken in Alabama. Initially, eight different restaurants were in the running.

Along with the title, The Chicken Shack was awarded $300, a plaque and a feature on the "Simply Southern TV" show.
