Tips to help parents, students adjust to school-day routines

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Many students in Alabama are down to their final week of summer vacation before they go back to school. This week on Today in Alabama, we're getting you ready to send your children back to class.
We all have some nerves and anxieties about going back to school and it can be hard to get back into the school-day rhythm. Experts say the time is now to start working back towards that school-day routine.
Morningview Principal Kenyetta Miller and Counselor Shaundolyn Elliott offered up some tips Tuesday morning to help students and parents transition back to school.
- Establish sleep schedule: According to the National Sleep Foundation, a bedtime routine allows your child to unwind from the day, and rest up for the next day
- Have Supplies ready: Ever had a dream where you go to class, and everyone else has a pencil for that big test and you don't?
- Cut Screen Time: How important is it to start adjusting your child's viewing habits before the academic year?
Our back to school series continues Wednesday with what you need to know and do before your students get on a bus.
