GA 10-year-old dead after single-vehicle crash Tuesday

RAMER, AL (WSFA) - A child has died after a single-vehicle crash in Ramer, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officials announced Tuesday.

According to Cpl. Jess Thornton, a 10-year-old child from Gainesville, GA, was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on U.S. 231 near the 99-mile marker, close to the intersection of Chapel Gray Loop.

Thornton says the child was a passenger in a 2009 Nissan Murano that left the roadway and struck a tree. The child was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The driver and two passengers were transported to Baptist Medical Center South for treatment of injuries.

No other information has been released as troopers continue their investigation.
