MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The defendant in a 2015 Montgomery murder case was sentenced to prison Tuesday.

According to court documents, Marquis Terrell Martin was sentenced to serve 25 years in the state penitentiary. He is also required to pay over $6,000 in restitution.

The murder took place June 3, 2015. Authorities discovered the body of Luke Nelson Taylor, 44, in the roadway just off the East South Boulevard between Norman Bridge and Narrow Lane Road.

Detectives said Taylor had been shot around 9:30 p.m. on Ivy Lane.

Authorities say an argument between Taylor and Martin escalated to the fatal shooting.
