TROY, AL (WSFA) - The Troy Men's basketball team is gearing up for an international business trip, of sorts.

The Trojans will be heading to Costa Rica for a series of international match-ups in Central America.

The NCAA allows every program to take a trip overseas every four years to play in these games.

The Trojans also received ten additional practices to prepare for the trip.

Now, the Trojans could have made the trip last year but declined due to so many new players joining the team for this season.

The Trojans add six fresh faces to their lineup for the 2018-2019 season and this trip will help build team chemistry on and off the court before the season begins.

"One of the neat things is we've told our guys to put your phone in airplane mode because then you won't get rung up with any huge expensive bills for international calling," said head coach Phil Cunningham. "They're going to have to talk and communicate a lot more. The coaches that I've talk to that have been on this exact same trip, very exact trip, they talk about the opportunity just to spend time together."

The Trojans will leave for Costa Rica on Thursday and play its first of three games on Friday.
