Northside Methodist hopes for turnaround season

DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - The 2017 season was one Northside Methodist football fans, players, and coaches wanted to forget.

The Knights finished 2017 with an 0-10 record and were outscored by a 39-6 margin.

George Kennedy, in his first year as head coach, left to become the new head coach at Kinston.

Enter Jason Hurst.

Hurst is coming to Northside after spending time as an assistant coach at Bainbridge High School in Georgia.

Hurst is wanting to instill a winning attitude in his players and has already been impressed with what the team has shown him early on.

"I was real surprised with our energy," said Hurst. "Our energy was really good. I thought we were going to have to throw pool parties and stuff to get these kids to come out, but that hasn't been the case at all. They've been there. Their energy has been great."

The Knights open their 2018 season on the road Aug. 17 against Edgewood.
