MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery police are searching for the suspects responsible for robbing hospital employees at gunpoint, shooting and injuring one.
According to Capt. Regina Duckett, the robbery happened around 2 a.m. at a bus stop in the 1200 block of Forest Avenue. The victims told officers they were robbed of personal property.
Officials with Jackson Hospital confirmed three members of their staff and one employee of Nolan Hospital were robbed near the campus. One person suffered a gunshot wound and is in fair condition.
Duckett says the suspects fled the scene after the robbery and shooting. No arrests have been made.
Jackson Hospital released a statement extending their heartfelt compassion to the team members.
"This was a random incident that unfortunately can happen anywhere. Jackson Hospital's trained security team, led by Gene Sisson, was instrumental in securing the scene in conjunction with the Montgomery Police Department," Mia Mothershed, Marketing Director. "Our security team maintains ongoing training and safety drills to ensure situations are handled precisely the way they were handled this morning. Kudos to all first responders and all that they do in keeping the River Region safe."
