ASU presents check to rival Tuskegee to help football player who lost leg
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - They're big rivals, but even that can be put aside momentarily to answer a higher call.
Friday, Alabama State University head football coach Donald Hill-Eley met with Willie Slater, his counterpart at Tuskegee University, with a check in-hand.
Hill-Eley made good on a promise by the ASU Hornets to help Jabari Bailey, a football player with the Golden Tigers, whose career came to a devastating end recently.
The $1,500 check goes toward Bailey's recovery efforts following the loss of his leg in a July car crash.
In addition to the money raised by ASU, a GoFundMe account for Bailey has raised more than $20,000.
