MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A man has been charged with a felony after fire officials say he attempted to set his girlfriend's apartment on fire.
Curtis Brown Jr. is charged with one count of attempted arson.
According to Montgomery Fire Department Investigator Captain R.C. Wood, investigators were called to look into an incident that happened at 4900 Plaza Drive. According to the victim, her boyfriend, identified as Brown, threw a Molotov cocktail through the window of her apartment while she was inside.
An investigation found a firebomb had self-extinguished after being thrown through the window of the apartment. Investigators found soot stains, broken glass and gasoline had been exposed to the flooring.
Brown told investigators on the scene that he was responsible for throwing the fire bond and that he would pay for the damages, according to Wood.
Brown was transported for an interview and later charged with attempted arson. He was placed under a $10,000 bond.
