MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Heat. Humidity. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms. These are the three primary ingredients for a "typical" August day in Alabama, and we will deal with all three over the next several days. By Thursday and the weekend, we'll go a little heavier on the rain, and a little lighter on the heat, with afternoon temperatures perhaps staying just south of 90 degrees by Thursday and Friday.
First things first, though, there's Wednesday. For many, it's another school day, but for a few systems, it's the first day back:
Highs head for the low to mid 90s away from the rain. The combination of heat and humidity will drive heat indices above 100 degrees in places that stay dry in the afternoon.
If you're lucky enough to get under a cooling shower, you'll drop into the upper 70s and lower 80s - temporarily.
