OZARK, AL (WSFA) - A man wanted for kidnapping his girlfriend over the weekend in Ozark has been arrested after fleeing over the state line into Georgia with the victim.
Ozark Police responded to a possible kidnapping call near Newton Avenue in the early morning hours Sunday.
A 17-year-old girl was said to have been forcibly taken from the house, prompting a nationwide Be On The Look Out, or BOLO, for Tovaris Shipman, 20.
Shipman and the victim had a history of domestic violence, Ozark police said, raising fears for the victim's safety.
Family and friends were able to help police track Shipman and the victim to Atlanta where Atlanta police were asked for assistance. Both the suspect and victim were located.
Ozark authorities are working to extradite Shipman back to Alabama where he faces a first-degree kidnapping charge and a second-degree burglary charge.
