MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Afternoon Update: We are currently watching a few stronger showers and storms on radar that are packing a punch.
While localized heavy rain is an issue for many, there are a few spots in particular that should remain weather aware: western Lee County (including the Auburn/Auburn University, Opelika, Beauregard and Notasulga areas) is under a Flash Flood Warning. This warning will remain in effect until 4:15 p.m. this afternoon. There is also an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for parts of Southwestern Chambers, Southeastern Tallapoosa, and portions of western Lee County until 3:30 p.m. due to heavy rain currently falling there.
Besides that, other parts of Alabama are experiencing what would be considered a very typical August forecast. Our overall weather pattern continues to remain consistent... for those who are dry today, temperatures remain in the low/mid 90s with a heat index values exceeding 100°+ for many spots.
Our pattern will eventually trend wetter and slightly cooler toward the end of the week as rain chances climb.
Highs closer to 90° are expected. This wetter and cooler stretch should continue into the weekend.
