MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Department has charged two men in the Aug.10 homicide of 29-year-old Samuel James.
Taketrin Bivins, 28, and Jay'Shun Edwards, 16, have each been charged with one count of capital murder during the commission of a robbery and capital murder during the discharging of a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
Police responded to the 1500 block of South Hull Street last Friday morning in reference to a subject down. Police arrived on the scene and found James, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said James's vehicle was missing but located and recovered a few blocks from the scene. Investigation indicates that James was sitting in his vehicle when he was shot from outside and then removed from the vehicle in the course of a robbery. After further investigation, Bivins and Edwards were identified as suspects.
According to police, Bivins and Edwards were taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and transported to Montgomery.
The two have been placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility and are being held without bond.
