TROY, AL (WSFA) - A Troy man was arrested Thursday in the stabbing death of another Troy man.
Domeka Kekar McKenzie, 41, was arrested and charged with the murder of 33-year-old Carl Burney.
According to the Troy Police Department, officers responded to the 400 block North Knox Street to a report of man down around 10 p.m. Thursday.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found Burney on the floor in the doorway of his residence suffering from stab wounds. Police said Burney later died at the scene.
Police investigated and said they found that Burney was outside his residence when McKenzie approached him with a knife and stabbed him in the chest and back. Police said McKenzie then fled the scene.
McKenzie was spotted by police on Henderson Highway and pulled over in the 800 block of Pike County Road 2208 around 10:40 p.m. Thursday. Police conducted a traffic stop and detained McKenzie and one other person in the vehicle shortly after.
McKenzie was processed through the Troy City Jail and transferred to the Pike County Jail where he was placed under a $100,000 bond.
