AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - The Auburn Police Department has confirmed two people are dead and another is injured after an early morning shooting.

Officers responded to the 800 block of North Donahue Drive around 3:45 a.m. in reference to a shots fired call. When officers arrived, they found three people had been injured in an apartment, all as a result of gunshot wounds.

Auburn police found a woman suffering from a minor injury, a man suffering from a life-threatening injury, and another man that was dead at the time of arrival.

The injured woman and the man suffering from life-threatening injuries were taken to the East Alabama Medical Center for treatment. Capt. Lorenza Dorsey said the man was originally listed in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries at around 7:04 a.m.

According to Dorsey, initial investigation reveals that the man who died at the hospital is believed to have shot at least one of the victims.

Dorsey said the shooting is not believed to be random.
