TALLAPOOSA CO., AL (WSFA) - A known sex offender has been arrested in Tallapoosa County and is charged with child sex abuse, according to Sheriff Jimmy Abbett.
Joshua Dwayne Ammons, 26, of Dadeville, was arrested Monday following a joint investigation by the Dadeville Police Department and the county sheriff's office.
Ammons, who is a registered sex offender with the sheriff's office, is accused of sexually abusing a child under age 12 and enticing a child to enter a vehicle or house for immoral purposes.
Details on the alleged incident were not released, but Abbett said the investigation is ongoing.
A check of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's sex offender registry shows Ammons was arrested in 2014 and later convicted for sexual misconduct in Tallapoosa County.
Ammons is being held on a $150,000 bond at the Tallapoosa County Jail.
