COVINGTON COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - A man wanted by the Covington County Sheriff's Office was arrested in Michigan.

According to CrimeStoppers, Jermaine Phillips was wanted for two counts of violation of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act and possession of marijuana. He was turned in by a tipster, who was worried Phillips would hurt a child in Detroit.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Special Victim's Unit relayed information to the Detroit Michigan United States Marshals' Fugitive Task Force, which was able to take Phillips into custody at his workplace.

Phillips will be prosecuted out of the Eastern District of Michigan for 18 USC 2250, the Adam Walsh Child Protection & Safety Act of 2006. A hold will also be placed on Phillips after the Eastern District of Michigan releases him for the Covington County Sheriff's Office.
