MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) - Two men were arrested after a police pursuit across three cities.
According to Millbrook Police Chief PK Johnson, officers first encountered the suspects in a 2010 Nissan Sentra on Camp Grandview Road. The officers pulled the vehicle over, but before the officer could exit his car, the vehicle fled, and a chase ensured. Officers observed both the driver and passenger throwing what appeared to be illegal narcotics out of the windows of the vehicle.
The suspect vehicle fled all the way to Montgomery, where it got on Interstate 65 heading northbound. A state trooper was able to deploy spike strips at I-65 NB and Cobbs Ford Road, and at least one of the suspect vehicle's tires was deflated. The vehicle continued on to the Highway 31 exit, then continued to County Road 40, where it finally stopped.
Johnson said the vehicle's driver, Brandon E. Mathis, a 28 year-old Prattville resident, and passenger, James D. Corley, a 38 year old Millbrook resident, were taken into custody. Mathis was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and attempting to elude law enforcement. Corley was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
Both suspects were taken to the Elmore County Jail.
