Legendary Trinity coach dies at 74

Longtime Trinity coach passes away

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Trinity Wildcats lost a member of its family Monday. Longtime coach Jack "Captain Jack" Schweers died after a long battle with "several ailments" the school said in an Instagram post.

Schweers coached boy's basketball and boy's tennis for 24 years at the school. Schweers retired in the spring but not before leading the hoops team to a state title in 1999 and the tennis team to four state titles.

"However, the most impressive thing about Coach Schweers was the impression he made on his players, fans, fellow coaches, and co-workers," the post said.

Coach was 74 years old. His funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Frazer United Methodist.
