MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A car wreck in Montgomery has netted the arrest of a wanted fugitive out of Tennessee who was being sought for first-degree murder.

The Montgomery Police Department said Antonio Arnese Gwynn was involved in a crash on Aug. 19 that sent him to an area hospital.

Immediately after the man's treatment ended sometime late Monday evening or overnight, police arrested him and transported him to the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

WSFA 12 News has been working with our sister station WMC-TV in Memphis to piece together details of the investigation.

Gwynn was wanted in connection to a fatal stabbing in Memphis earlier in August. The stabbing happened about a mile from Graceland.

It's unclear why Gwynn was in Alabama's capital city and, so far, there is no information available on possible extradition back to Tennessee.
