BUTLER COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - A man charged with killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend has been denied a bond reduction, and his case has been bound over to a grand jury.

According to court documents, Harrison Cole English, who is charged with murder, appeared in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing. After hearing from witnesses and considering their testimony, the court decided there was probable cause for English's arrest and bound the case over to the Grand Jury of Butler County for further proceedings.

English was arrested in June, after court documents say he confessed to police that he killed Maura McCoy while the two were arguing about her pregnancy. McCoy had been missing for a few days before her body was found in a wooded area off of Mt. Pisgah, close to the Monroe County border.

The court also denied a bond reduction for the defendant Wednesday, which is set at $500,000.
