MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - What has become of our community when a high school football game abruptly ends due to gunfire.
Immediately those opposed to the owning of guns will state that this is yet another reason we need to have stiffer gun control laws. To that, I ask what do you say to Chicago? A city with some of the toughest gun laws in the country yet experiencing 30+ victims of gun violence per week.
Guns are not the issue here. The issue is people who apparently are lacking moral fiber.
At what point would anyone think, I am going to hang out near a high school football game so I had better pack my gun. That thinking, that logic, is that of someone who has no regard for their fellow man, their community or the children of their community.
Those responsible for the shooting will probably say they were disrespected or they had to settle a score and to that, I say for the LOVE OF GOD, STOP!
We as a community need to set better examples for our children. If you have a score to settle, settle it in private and do it in a civilized manner. It starts at home, at church, at schools.
If we do not change this ridiculous backward way of dealing with issues, Heaven help us.
