MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Potential Tropical Cyclone Seven will likely develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm within the next day or two. It is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico Monday afternoon and move towards the north central Gulf coast. By Tuesday, impacts to the Florida panhandle and Alabama Gulf coast will likely include heavy rain, gusty winds and dangerous seas. By Wednesday, the tropical system is expected to be inland over the lower Mississippi River Valley. Our weather in south and central Alabama will depend on the track and strength of the potential storm, but tropical moisture may linger over Alabama and heavy rain is possible over parts of central and south Alabama at times mid-week.

A tropical storm watch extends from the Alabama-Florida border to parts of Louisiana.

As for our near-term Labor Day forecast, it will be very similar to Saturday and Sunday. We'll feel the heat and humidity, and scattered showers and storms are possible in the afternoon.
