Montgomery Area Food Bank asks for help during Hunger Action Month

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Area Food Bank is asking for the River Region to help raise awareness during Hunger Action Month.

The "Action" being promoted during Hunger Action month is social media driven. People are encouraged to post an image of themselves holding a paper plate which reads: "On an empty stomach I can't _____".  or "To help end hunger I can ______" to social media. Those who post are being asked to tag @MontgomeryAreaFoodBankInc and @FeedingAmerica and use the hashtag #FeedingHopeAL and #HungerActionMonth.

Each week during the month of September the Montgomery Area Food Bank will spotlight one of its programs.

  • Week#1 Agency Awareness Week
  • Week#2 Senior Supplement Program Awareness Week
  • Week#3 Mobile Pantry Program Awareness Week
  • Week#4 Volunteer Program Awareness Week

There will be a number of events during the month including Hunger Action Day on September 13 and the Annual Zombie Walk/Prom on September 28 in Downtown Montgomery.
