TUSCALOOSA, AL (WSFA) - Alabama's domination on the field continued from its lopsided season-opening win against Louisville last week.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide (2-0) controlled all four quarters and defeated Arkansas State 57-7 in their 2018 home opener at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Alabama shined on both sides of the ball. The Crimson Tide offense set a record under the Nick Saban era for most points scored in a home opener. Defensively, an interception returned for a touchdown by Savion Smith extended Alabama's streak of forcing at least one turnover to 44 of the Crimson Tide's last 46 games.

Turning Point

The Alabama offense got going immediately, driving 75 yards on five plays to open the game then scoring a second touchdown less than two minutes later.

The two early scores not only gave the Crimson Tide a quick advantage, the drives also set the tone for the game.

Less than two minutes into the game, Tagovailoa connected with one of his favorite targets, Jerry Jeudy, for a 58-yard strike to take a 7-0 lead. Arkansas State's ensuing drive lasted three plays and Alabama's pressure forced the away team punter's kick to travel only 7 yards. The Tide scored two plays later on a 31-yard pass from Tagovailoa to Henry Ruggs to make the score 13-0 with 11:30 left in the first quarter.
