Atmore, Al. -- A dogfighting event scheduled for Saturday will not take place as planned.
That's because the ringleaders, 28-year-olds John Stallworth of Beatrice and Terrance McNeil of Montgomery are behind bars.
Investigators from the Atmore Police Department, Humane Society of Escambia County and 21st Circuit Judicial Drug Task Force assisted in bringing the men into custody in the early morning hours of June 21.
When police arrived at the Atmore address on N. Sunset Drive they found a pit , portable generators for lighting and other dogfighting parpahanelia.
Three vehicles and two dogs where seized at that location.
Twelve other pitbulls were seized by authorities hours later at a second address.
Officials say the investigation continues and other arrests are expected.
