HEADLAND, AL (WSFA) - Flowers Hospital is expanding its care in the Wiregrass.

Through a new partnership between Flowers Hospital and Dr. Vincent Barker, they'll be adding a family practice clinic in Headland.

Barker has 10 years of emergency room experience, and he will provide urgent care as well.

This will be the first Flowers Hospital provider located in Headland.

"So many people need a primary care provider, and that's so important for an individual's overall health. As we look at the growth in the Headland area, Dale County, Henry County, Barbour County, we wanted to have another physician provider that will be available," said Flowers Hospital CEO Suzanne Woods.

Headland's new family practice clinic will be located on Highway 431, where PrimeCare used to be. It was a medical facility before so it's already equipped with some of the things they need.

"We hated to see PrimeCare leave, because you know you got a lot of people that had to drive way to Dothan and Abbeville to the doctor cause we only have one right now," said Henry County Commissioner Gregory Reynolds.

This location is scheduled to open Nov. 2, but patients can start making appointments Oct. 12.

Not only will this new facility be conveniently located for Headland residents, but this clinic will offer extended hours Monday and Wednesday until 7 in the evening.
