HENRY CO., AL (WSFA) - Police impersonators in the Wiregrass area are growing.

Last week we reported an incident in Slocomb. Another one was reported by a Eufaula citizen Tuesday, and Henry County has had two.

Authorities are working together in their investigations.

In Slocomb, and the two incidents in Henry County, the police impersonators were targeting females. The Eufaula target was a male.

Police say the fake officer pulled the man over near Lake Point State Park then kept going. They believe he may have taken off, because it wasn't a woman.

"I feel like it makes women everywhere feel victimized. They should be more aware of what's going on," said Michele Patterson, a Headland Resident.

Police say the suspect in Eufaula was driving a white Chevrolet Impala with dark tinted windows. Reportedly, the vehicle had blue lights In the interior and the suspect used a spotlight protruding from the driver's side. The impala is believed to have an Alabama tag starting with the number 6, which means the tag is registered in Barbour County.

The impersonators are also picking rural areas with not a lot of people around.

The Slocomb woman and the second victim in Henry County were both assaulted by the fake officer. The first incident in Henry County occurred Sept. 19, and the second one occurred Oct. 2.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office says the suspect is a male, and he was driving a white or silver GMC pickup truck.

"We don't want them to be afraid to stop for the police. That's why we're asking them to get on the phone and call 911, slow down, put your emergency flashers on and let our dispatchers confirm that it is a local law enforcement officer trying to stop you," said Eufaula Police Sergeant Brown.

Anyone with information on these vehicles, or anyone that experienced similar circumstances is urged to contact the Eufaula Police Department at 334-687-1200, or the Henry County Sheriff's Office at 334-585-3131.
