DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - A Phoenix City man is accused of abducting and assaulting his ex-girlfriend Tuesday.

Darris Bostic, 29, is charged with kidnapping and domestic violence.

Around 3 p.m. Tuesday Dothan police received a report of a fight at the Hutto Towers on West Main Street.

We talked to a woman Wednesday who said she witnessed the incident.

"She was just incoherently screaming. I came to my balcony and there was a man taller than she pulling her by her wrist and she was trying to pull back to get away from him," said a woman by the name of Sherry.

When police arrived, they found an earring and shoe, believed to be the victim's, on the ground. Her vehicle was also parked with her belongings inside.

"That began the course of an investigation that led well into the night last night and spanned as far as Columbus, GA to Phenix City and down into Mobile," said Dothan Police Chief Steven Parrish.

Authorities eventually located and arrested Bostic near Eufaula on Highway 431 Tuesday night. Police say, Bostic pistol whipped his ex-girlfriend and threatened to kill her. They say she was lucky to walk away with only minor injuries.

"It could've gone a lot worse than it did so we're just thankful that we've recovered the victim," Parrish said.

Police followed up with the victim Wednesday morning and took her through the restraining order process. They plan to keep following up with her.

"What a fitting way to conclude the domestic violence awareness month in our area than to actually bring to justice an individual who kidnapped his ex-girlfriend," Parrish said.

Bostic remains in the Dothan City Jail. His bond is set at $250,000.

Dothan police teamed up with the Houston County Sheriff's Office, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, ATF and the Eufaula Police Department to make the arrest and bring the victim home safely.
