OZARK, AL (WSFA) - An Ozark man is in the Dale County jail after he allegedly attempted to rape a woman he became friends with on Facebook, court documents say.

According to those documents, Dustin Allen Thrasher, 24, is charged with one count of attempted rape for an incident that happened in August.

The victim told investigators she and Thrasher had become friends over social media and had agreed to meet at the Dale County Lake. The two were walking around the lake when they decided to move closer to a waterfall near a bridge.

The victim says Thrasher then swept her legs out from under her, began choking her and unzipped his pants in an attempt to rape her.

The victim was able to kick Thrasher and run back to her vehicle. She later contacted the police who, after an investigation, took Thrasher into custody.

Thrasher was taken to the Dale County Jail under a $100,00 bond.
