Montgomery police investigating reported assault, kidnapping of woman, 63

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A 63-year-old woman is recovering after a reported assault and kidnapping in Montgomery.
The victim told Montgomery investigators she was attacked by multiple suspects after opening the door of her house to an acquaintance. She said she had loaned the acquaintance money.
The victim says she was forced in the trunk of her car and driven to Pintlala in south Montgomery County where the car was abandoned.
After escaping from the trunk, she walked to Mosley's on Highway 31. The owner of the store called the police and the paramedics. MPD confirms the victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Wayne Hatcher told WSFA 12 News he was working at Mosley's Store when the victim came from across the street.
"She was very bloody, and obviously beaten," Hatcher said. "I called the law, The Sheriff's Department and the Fire Department. They came and of course took her to the hospital."
He described the victim as calm, considering the circumstances.
The victim's car was found burned on private property off Highway 31 Wednesday morning, not long after she was transported to the hospital.
"I couldn't ever figure out if she was still in it when they lit it, or if she had gotten out or what happened there," Hatcher explained.
MPD didn't confirm the number of suspects or their identities. The Montgomery Police Department is the lead agency on this case because it reportedly started inside the Montgomery city limits.
