Carroll High School increases police presence after terroristic threats

OZARK, AL (WSFA) - Carroll High School was on high alert Tuesday, after terroristic threats were made Monday night. Ozark police eliminated any credible threat, but increased its presence around the school throughout the day as an extra safety precaution Tuesday.
A juvenile, who's not being identified, was arrested and charged for making the threats after a snap chat post circulating the internet was reported to authorities.
Investigators were able to identify and locate the suspect with help from the district attorney's office, Ozark city schools and youth services.
"I was very concerned and scared. I have two high schoolers they were scared as well," said Donna Tharp.
Superintendent Rick McInturf says phones were off the hook this morning. Both parents and students were calling to figure out if school was open,
after learning of the potential danger.
"We sent alerts out to every bus driver to reassure the kids as they got on the buses that everything was safe. We sent notify me messages and text messages to parents to try to reassure them. We're doing everything in our power to make the campus a safe location," said McInturf.
Police and school leaders want to reassure parents, students, staff and the community that safety is their highest priority and these sort of threats will never be taken lightly.
The investigation is ongoing.
