SELMA, AL (WSFA) -

A Selma man who had been on the run for months has been captured in Miami and extradited back to Alabama to face charges.

Markeese Halliburt, 20, was wanted for a Jan. 31, 2017, incident in which shots were fired into a house in the 1100 block of Philpot Avenue. One person inside the residence was wounded.

The Selma Police Department said Halliburt was wanted for assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling after the incident.

He eluded authorities for months until Selma police learned he'd been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly shot someone in Miami.

The extradition process resulted in three Selma investigators going to south Florida to pick up the suspect and return him to Alabama.

Halliburt is being held in the Dallas County Jail.
