Find out if your child will be rezoned next school year

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery Public Schools will hold its first informational meeting for families impacted by zoning changes for the 2018-2019 school year. Originally, MPS was preparing to close Dozier Elementary, Chisholm Elementary, Floyd Elementary and Georgia Washington Middle School next school year. However, recent changes led to the system deciding to delay the closures of Dozier and Chisholm Elementary Schools. Now, MPS will only close Floyd Elementary next school year and sell Georgia Washington Middle School to the Town of Pike Road.
Even though only two schools will not open under MPS next school year, the system had to do a district-wide shift in order to accommodate the space needs for students coming from Floyd and Georgia Washington. The change could impact students who attend Floyd Elementary, Highland Avenue Elementary, Dannelly Elementary, Davis Elementary, Nixon Elementary and every middle school except Capitol Heights Middle School.
To find out if your child is impacted by zoning changes, got to the MPS website, click on the zone change tool and type in your address.
The system will show you the elementary, middle and high schools your address is currently zoned for.
