MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Former Alabama State University head football coach Reggie Barlow has accepted a coaching position at a high school in Georgia.

Barlow was reportedly hired by Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia, and the official introduction will occur after the holiday break.

In a text message, Barlow released the following statement:

I had an opportunity extended to me to be the head coach at Carver high in Columbus Ga. It's a great school with rich tradition. I accepted the position. However there will not be an official introduction until after the break! I'm very excited about this new opportunity.

A lot of controversy surrounded Barlow's firing in 2014 as he was just three weeks into a new three-year contract when he was allegedly approached by the interim athletics director asking him to resign. After declining, Barlow was voted out of the job by the ASU board.

Barlow filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the university, but a judge ruled in favor of the university last week.
