PERRY CO., AL (WSFA) - Tyrone Williams pled guilty on assault charges in court on Monday following an SBI investigation, according to the Perry County district attorney Michael Jackson.

Alabama Bureau of Investigation records show that Williams, 48, and his girlfriend of the time were at her apartment when the altercation took place. The records show that three shots were fired in the apartment: two into the ceiling and one at Jones.

In his original statement, Williams said he was packing his belongings to leave the apartment when he heard two shots fired by Jones. He said she then fired another in an attempted suicide.

Williams called 911 and was transported to a local police station for questioning. When asked about the call he placed, he ended the interview and requested a lawyer.

After the SBI investigation, Williams admitted to shooting Jones, leaving her with non-fatal wounds.

"This cold-hearted gunslinger almost ended the victim's life," said Jackson. "She was trying to leave him and unfortunately, this was another domestic violence case with tragic results."

Jackson said Williams will be sentenced in a few months and is facing life in prison.
