Defense shines as Alabama State smothers Mississippi Valley State 41-3

MOBILE, Ala. (WSFA) - The Alabama State Hornets started with a single sting against rival Mississippi Valley State in the first quarter. Then, there was another in the second, sending ASU to the locker room up 13-0.

By the game’s end, it was a swarm, with a particularly brutal third coming out of halftime in which the Hornets inflicted 28 unanswered points on the home team at Ladd-Pebbles Stadium.

ASU shut down the Delta Devils 41-3.

The Hornets’ record rises to 8-2 in the regular season. ASU is currently holding the second spot in the SWAC conference standings.

ASU will be at home next week when it takes on Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
